Even though the temperatures are still chilly in Fort McMurray, the long Easter weekend is a sure sign that spring is around the corner. Easter is a wonderful time to enjoy gatherings with friends and family so we went on our own scavenger hunt to dress up some some mini tablescapes in some adventurous designs to celebrate the holiday.
There’s no need to rush out and purchased mass produced table decor – use what you have and use what you love to create your own unique tablescape this weekend.
We used rustic country accents with soft white spring flowers to create this design with what we had on hand. A watering can doubles as a vase and hobnail votives give the table a vintage feel. Hemp string wound like a nest holds a sweet grouping of country eggs and recycled corks add to the ‘found’ feeling of the items. A wine box bursting with spring moss keeps the centre of the table low and friendly for great conversation over a family meal. Pull out some of those vintage-like family heirlooms you may never use. Below the watering can is one of our finds from last year, a collection of lacey cotton napkins that we mix and match for that welcoming country feel.
POP of Easter
We LOVE trying non-traditional colour schemes for parties and events. We think these sharp bright pops of colour are the perfect way to set a fun table, especially if the youngest members of the family are going to be included in the fun.
Blue polka dot linens are a fun backdrop to the table and are reminiscent of the egg accents we used on the place setting. A small goblet centrepiece was dress as a ‘nest’ with fresh yellow tulips popping out giving a sense of movement and growth to the design.
Accenting the table are our yellow cube vases simply dressed with some yellow and orange Gerber daisies – the orange accents are what really make this colour scheme ‘pop’ and is brought in again with the mesh wrapped egg which could also be used to write the names of the guests and is something the kids can do to help make the table feel special. Tied with a simple orange and yellow ribbon this table setting is bright, cheery and ‘no fuss’ for spending some quality time with the whole family.
Pretty in Pink when there’s some bunny to love.
There’s no doubt that Easter is a holiday that we associate with pastel tones including pink.
Don’t be afraid to let your table decor express something that while, it may not be what is expected, certainly suits you and your tastes – afterall, that’s a great part of the fun!
In this Pretty in Pink romantic design we are using the soft pink associated with Easter paired with more modern accents of damask and houndstooth to give it a punchy bold impact on the table.
Instead of setting our mini-candelabra with traditional candles, we wrapped up our eggs in pink chevron and used those as our Easter accent instead! And don’t forget our adorable, chic bunny rabbit napkin with just a skotch of houndstooth added to tie it into the tablescape!
In keeping with a softer more traditional palette, we paired a watery blue with a mix and match of vases with pink florals for a traditional touch of Easter colour.
The best part of this table is the egg-bellishment using jewels, ribbon and tape – all things we have left over from the holidays which worked great in this pairing!
The chevron runner adds a lift to an otherwise monochromatic pewter which just wasn’t fun enough for this table.
